The Northern Burlington County Regional School District is pleased to extend health benefits to eligible employees and their dependents (defined as legal spouse, legal civil union partner, or eligible dependent children). For eligibility specifics, contact Human Resources via email / x2009.


Waiting Period for New Hires
There is a waiting period of two months following your date of hire before your health coverage is effective. New coverage is effective on the first day following two months of employment (e.g., for a start date of September 15, coverage is effective November 15).

Dependent Coverage

The Affordable Care Act allows for medical and prescription drug coverage for eligible child dependents (regardless of marital, student, or financial dependency status, residence, or eligibility for health benefits through an employer) until age 26:

**A dependent child is removed from your medical/prescription plan on the last day of the calendar year he/she turns age 26

**For dental benefits, a dependent child is removed from your dental plan on the last day of the calendar year he/she turns age 23

When your child is about to age out of District plans, it is important that you notify Human Resources via email / x2009 to learn about continuing coverage options such as COBRA, the ACA Health Insurance Marketplace, or the New Jersey Chapter 375 / <31 Dependent (DU31) plan.

Newborn children are automatically covered for 60 days from date of birth. To continue coverage beyond the initial 60 days, you must actively enroll your child in the District plan.

Life Events and Status Changes
Qualifying life events (such as marriage, divorce, birth of a child, adoption, or loss of other coverage) allows you to adjust your benefit elections. Note: to be eligible for this special enrollment opportunity, you must request the change within 31 days of the qualifying event (within 60 days to enroll a newborn).
