FlexFacts FAQs

What are the Flexible Spending Account (FSA) / Commuter Benefits options?
The FSA / Commuter Benefits options help you manage out-of-pocket costs and lower your federal taxable income by setting aside account dollars before they are taxed. Our administrator is Flex Facts.

With these options, you can cover the cost of eligible out-of-pocket expenses with “before-tax” dollars, almost like an automatic “tax deduction”. The dollar amount you choose will be transferred from each paycheck, before taxes are deducted, and contributed to your account(s). Then, use your Flex Facts debit card to pay for eligible out-of-pocket expenses or submit a claim for reimbursement; see forms below. (Note: FSAs are not exempt from state taxes).

How much can I transfer to my account(s)?
Each year, you choose an amount within a given range to be transferred to your account(s) from your paycheck. It is recommended that you base your designated amount on predictable expenses. The amount you choose will be transferred in equal installments from each paycheck to your account throughout the year. The maximum amounts you can contribute to your account(s) is announced during each Open Enrollment.

What out-of-pocket expenses are eligible for reimbursement?
Out-of-pocket health care expenses that are eligible for reimbursement include costs for the below and more. Search or browse for eligible health care expenses at flexfacts.com; at the bottom of the page, click on FSA Eligible Expense Table.

* Prescribed acne treatments
* Copayments
* Contact lenses and cleaners
* Dental care
* Eyeglasses
* Hearing aids/batteries
* Lasik eye surgery
* Prescribed smoking cessation programs

Check out the FAQs at flexfacts.com for details on qualified Commuter Benefits expenses.

What is the Flex Facts debit card?
Participants are issued their own debit card to pay for eligible out-of-pocket expenses; use it to cover eligible expenses on-the-spot. The amount is automatically deducted from your account, so no receipts or claim forms are needed.

When can I enroll in these options?
You can join the Health FSA during each annual Open Enrollment, so watch for future announcements. Once enrolled, you must re-enroll each year to continue in the program.

You can enroll / disenroll in the Commuter Benefits option at any time during the year; you remain enrolled until you make a change.

Contact the Business Office if you have questions about enrollment and eligibility.
