Eligibility
North Brunswick Township School District

The North Brunswick Township Board of Education is pleased to extend health benefits to eligible employees and their dependents.

Note: Per the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (2024 - 2027), Board-paid health benefits will be for "employee only" for the first three (3) years of employment in a position eligible to receive benefits. However, employees with fewer than three (3) years of employment (in a position eligible to receive health benefits) may purchase the family portion of the health benefits by paying 25% of the cost of the family portion through payroll deduction.

Dependent Coverage

The Affordable Care Act allows for medical and prescription drug coverage for eligible child dependents through the last day of the calendar month in which he/she turns age 26.

Dental coverage is provided to eligible dependents through the last day of the calendar month in which he/she marries or attains age 23, whichever comes first; orthodontia benefits end on the last day of the calendar month in which he/she attains age 19.

When your child is about to age out of the medical, prescription, or dental plans, it is important that you notify the Benefits Office to learn about continuing coverage options.

Life Events

Qualifying life events (such a marriage, divorce, birth of a child, adoption, or loss of other coverage) allow you to adjust your benefit elections. Note: to be eligible for any special enrollment opportunity, you must request the change within 31 days (60 days for birth of a child) of the qualifying event. Learn more in your plan overviews or contact the Benefits Office.

Waiting Period for New Hires

In most cases, there is no waiting period for new hires; health benefits are effective on the date of hire.
