Eligibility
Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District

The Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District is pleased to extend benefits to eligible, full-time employees and their dependents. Dependents are defined as your eligible spouse, civil union partner, same-sex domestic partner, or children (this can include natural children under age 26 regardless of marital, student, or financial dependency status, stepchildren, foster children, and those in a guardian-ward relationship). Supporting eligibility documentation is required for enrollment.

Waiting Period for New Hires
The waiting period for all new hires before health benefits are effective is 60 days after start date.

Dependent Coverage

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) provides for health coverage for your eligible child dependents through the District as follows:

** Medical / prescription coverage: through the end of the calendar year in which he/she turns age 26
** Dental coverage: until his/her 19th birthday (or 23rd birthday if attending an accredited school, college, or university as a full-time student)

You must notify the District when your dependent is no longer eligible for coverage or he/she could forfeit rights to continuing coverage options; children no longer eligible for District coverage may be able to continue coverage under an alternative plan.

Life Events and Benefit Changes
Qualifying life events (such as marriage, divorce, birth of a child, adoption, or loss of other coverage) allow you to adjust your benefit elections. Note: to be eligible for any special enrollment opportunity, you must request the change within 30 days of the qualifying event. Learn more in your plan overviews.
