Benefits Waiver

If eligible, you can choose to opt out of (waive), your District medical, prescription, and/or dental benefits. This waiver option offers flexibility in creating your own personalized package of benefits. If you have access to health benefits elsewhere (e.g., through your spouse's employer plan), you may be eligible. See the Opt-Out Election Form for details.

Note: your waiver payment is considered taxable income.

To enroll, you must complete the Opt-Out Election Form and must re-enroll each year during our Open Enrollment if you wish to remain in the program. If you lose coverage from the alternative source, you can immediately enroll in our District plans by completing an enrollment form and providing required eligibility documentation.

Waiver amounts are pro-rated according to when you elect the waiver option. The Board distributes waiver amounts in 20 equal installments (September through June). You can choose to opt-out of any or all of offered coverage types.
